It all started when a friend of mine mentioned he was buying XRP to make a quick buck in December of 2017. First off, I’m the kind of guy who would rather lose money than miss out on making a lot. So I thought what the hell, I’ll throw a little money at it. Unfortunately exchanges were backlogged and I missed the epic run of 2017/2018.
I ended up purchasing my first XRP in April 2018 after it cooled off at around 50 cents. This is when my journey truly began. After watching the price go from 50 to 55 cents and claiming my 10% gain, I watched it rocket to 90 cents in the days to follow. I got hooked right away but it was only when I started researching and learning about it was when I finally understood what I owned.
The XRPL is a magnificent creation to me. Even better is the team at Ripple behind it. Yes, Ripple owns A LOT of XRP but I see that as a good thing. They are going to do everything they can to make the coins they hold not only worth more in value but worth more to upgrading an ancient legacy system of transferring funds that has a ridiculous error rate and is costly to use.
Unfortunately for the time being the progress of Ripple and their beloved XRP has been hindered by lack of regulatory clarity in the United States. Some think that this is all by design and there is a grand plan that XRP was designed to be a global bridge reserve currency since decades ago. I mean even Ripple said so themselves a few years back about being a global reserve currency. Others think that Ripple owns too many coins and that it will never be successful. I let the research of community members speak for itself. I’ve spent too much of the past few years following closely and I’ve seen a lot of things and spoken with a lot of people. My personal opinion is that Ripple and XRP are legit and they are the next big thing in crypto. I guess time will tell. All we can do is wait and see how things play out. Hopefully the United States wakes up and starts winning the tech cold war with China and uses their most valuable tool, the XRPL and XRP itself.
